Splits one Ethernet female port into two female ports. This splitter adapter will allow you to use two Ethernet devices in one spare RJ45 wall socket female port, by splitting this port into 2. Attach two computers to an existing CAT5E Structured cabling system. Use one CAT5E UTP Cable Economiser to allow two devices to be plugged into a single 8-core (4-pair) CAT5E UTP faceplate. Then use one at the other end of the cable run to split the signal to two ports in the hub or patch panel. Two CAT5E cable economisers are required, one connected to a Patch Panel and another one attached to the network wall box outlet. The Cat5e Economiser, must used in pairs (one at at each end of a cable run), allows 4 pair cable to be divided in two separate twisted pair data signal sockets. By plugging one economiser direct into a wall outlet and another into a patch panel at the other end; one cable run of 4 twisted pair can be used to transmit 2 sets of data signals. Cat5e only utilises 2 of the four pairs of wires (wires 1,2,3,6) inside the cable. These splitters allow data from one connection to be sent down the usual wires 1,2,3,6 and the data from the second connection to be sent down the other cables (wires 4,5,7,8). These can be used with both Straight cable and Crossover Cable connections. When the signal reaches the other end, it must be split again back into 2 separate cables. This is why they are used in pairs. These are intended for Data transmission and not for Voice. They are not suitable for telephones or for sharing a Broadband connection. Also known as RJ45 Cable Economisers / Splitters / passive Hubs / T-Pieces / Mod T-Adapters / Modular Jack Splitters.[PLEASE NOTE- You CANNOT share a broadband connection with this device. This will NOT split a port on an ethernet card, XBox or NTL Box. They are ONLY for use with patch panels & face plates.]
